Introducing the Founder/President of WMB | Panel of Experts

Dr. Paul Yan, CHP, N.D.

Born and raised in China, Paul Yan received his degree from the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and has practiced TCM since 1972. He earned a Doctorate in Naturopathy from Nova College in Canada and is certified as a Holistic Health Care Practitioner by the Washington Institute of Natural Medicine and is a member of the American Naturopathic and Holistic Association. With his healthcare practice based in the Washington DC region, Dr. Yan is a researcher, instructor, and guest lecturer at several Naturopathic universities.

Dr. Yan specializes in treating disorders such as chronic fatigue, metabolism disorders, pain, low immune function, depression, anxiety, asthma, and digestive problems. By using a variety of both Eastern and Western natural healing methods including homeopathy, nutritional and herbal remedies, acupuncture and visualization therapy, he is able to not only treat the problem, but lift the patient's awareness of preventative measures such as proper nutrition, exercise and other self help measures to prevent re-occurrence.

WMB is delighted to have Dr. Paul Yan on its Board of Advisors as resident expert in the field of Chinese Herbal Medicine (TCM). He can be reached in northern Virginia at 703-406-8989 or email at dryan8888@aol.com

Dr. Sally Rockwell

Dr. Sally Rockwell is a clinical nutritionist whose personal quest for good health led her to this specialty. She earned a bachelor's degree in nutritional science and doctorate in clinical nutrition. Dr. Sally works with patients with food allergies, candida yeast, hypoglycemia, hyperactivity, eating disorders, and diabetes.

Dr. Sally has created materials—charts, games, recipes—with such wit, humor and wisdom that one is inspired and given hope in diagnosing food allergens and learning to live without them; you're not left wondering, "What's left to eat?" These are all self-help products. She also works with medical professionals to aid the patients of allergists, pediatricians, and nutritionists. Visit her website at www.DrSallyRockwell.com

Suzan Griffis Knowles

suzan knowlesSuzan Griffis Knowles practices aromatherapy for women’s health and infants in the Pacific Northwest. An R.N. in pediatric and perinatal care since 1978, Suzan was directed into aromatherapy by Highline Medical Center in Burien, Washington. Highline Medical Center is incorporating more natural practices in its healthcare in collaboration with Bastyr University and NW Natural Health Clinic. The introduction of aromatherapy in various clinics at Highline began with Suzan’s certification.

Trained in the “pill and scalpel” environment of U.S. medical education, Suzan was skeptical initially. But when sprinkling lavender oil on her husband’s pillow dramatically improved his sleeping, she was a convert. In 1995, she was certified as a Clinical Aromatherapy Practitioner by the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA).

She regularly gives seminars in Clinical Aromatherapy for women’s health, nurses’ self-care, and pediatric patients. Suzan has been on the clinical faculty of the University of Washington School of Nursing since 2001, and she is clinical manager and educator of the Special Care Nursery/NICU at Overlake Hospital Medical Center in Bellevue, Washington.
