Skin & Hair

Acne: Common among teens when glandular activity increases, this eruption of the skin as a blackhead or white pimple can leave the skin scarred if not treated properly.

What to take: A combination of external treatment combined with internal herbal remedies will help clear the skin and promote healing. Garlic, cabbage and tea tree oil should be rubbed on the infected areas. In combination with this, teas of Huang qin, Sangbai pi and Chi shao yao should be taken daily to cool excessive lung heat. A supplement of 30mg. zinc gluconate has been reported as helpful. Consult a homeopathic guidebook for remedies for overall health issues related to acne and reconsider the diet.

Eczema: This skin inflammation is usually caused by stress, allergies or irritants and is visible as patches of red blisters that are itchy and watery.

What to take: All of these herbal remedies can be applied to the skin as a lotion or bath and act as cooling and drying agents that are antibacterial and promote fast healing of the skin. Burdock, Evening primrose, Chickweed and Stinging Nettle are readily available and help promote healing with no harsh side effects.

Warts: Caused by a virus, warts are a small outcropping of the skin appearing most often on the feet and hands but may also be found on other parts of the body.

What to take: Greater Celandine or Dandelion sap from the stems can be squeezed directly on the wart to promote fast healing. Arbor Vitae as a tincture or lotion is also very affective in killing the viral infection.

Cautions and Commonsense: DO NOT use during pregnancy.
