Facial Workout
f you've ever observed a woman driver, while stopped at a traffic intersection, making very strange contortions with her face, chances are high she was doing her Facercise®! Drive-time is a space where multi-tasking women can do these exercises to strengthen and develop the facial muscles.
A few Natural Healing Therapies are unique and the techniques registered by their creators. This is one of them, created by Carole Maggio. Because it is a unique and proven effective method for the face it is being presented here. History of the Healing Form
Carole Maggio started a career in real estate while raising a family, but she had an avid interest in beauty and skin care. After six years of reading, studying, and creating files on information from popular magazines and medical literature related to beauty, skin care and particularly anti-aging treatments, she made a career change. Carole was licensed as an esthetician and opened a skin and figure salon in Monterey, California. She expanded and honed her knowledge of the latest skin care techniques, traveling worldwide to learn the latest knowledge in the field.
"By the time I was 36 years old, the fine lines on my face were growing more visible—and more difficult to fill out," Maggio writes. A casual comment from her husband (that she was "showing her age") sent her on a quest to stop the ravages of time. Realizing that if she could plump up the underlying structure of her face, the lines would fill out and be diminished, Carole began studying facial anatomy and how facial muscles work. She read textbooks on the theory of exercise and studied and experimented until she could isolate and manipulate the major muscles in her own face. Friends noticed the difference in her facial tone and begged for the same treatment. The rest, as they say, is history. She refined the exercise techniques and taught them to clients around the world for 11 years before publishing the book (available in the WMB Shop).
What to Expect
Unless you happen to find a Naturopathic Doctor giving a class on these exercises, you will be learning them on your own using the photos in the book. This method is very do-able, and the photos of clients on Day One and Day Six will be more than enough to keep your interest up for 11 minutes a day for a week. Take a close-up photo of yourself on Day One (or have on-hand a recent one) and take a photo on Day Six.
The exercises manipulate the major muscles to re-contour the face, and they increase circulation and oxygen flow in the muscles. Exercise helps restore muscle tissue's elasticity and tone, making muscles plump and renewing strength.
Without facial exercise, here's what we face with aging: Skin tone grows paler or yellow, nose continues to grow longer or wider, lips grow thinner, eyebrows and eyelids droop, under-eye puffiness increases, jawline sags and jowls develop, mouth corners sag or turndown, chin sags and double chin can develop, skin on neck grows loose and crepey.
With these exercises this what you can expect:
Rosier skin tone, raised or lifted eyebrows, enlarged eye sockets making eyes look more open, diminished puffiness under the eyes, a shorter or narrower nose, fuller lips, firm jawline and diminished jowls, turned-up young-looking mouth corners, toned and smoothed chin and neck.
Facercise® is a flexible routine that need not be done in one sitting. You can do eye exercises while talking on the phone or waiting at the bus stop. Nose exercises can be completed during the lunch hour. Most of them can be done while working on the computer—or during drive-time! Doctors have confirmed the safety and integrity of the exercises—you'll see the effectiveness yourself; you cannot over-do the exercises.
These exercises are favored by those who have had plastic surgery in order to "naturalize" a new face-lift and to avoid the re-lift in a few years. Another group that has benefited tremendously are those with physiological damage sustained from paralyzing illnesses or disfiguring accidents.
